Year of the Ox!

Finally! New template for a New beginning.. I LOVE this picture! Totally illustrates the general mood i am in now, reminiscing the beauty of last summer but welcoming the brilliant new summer that's gonna arrive in a blink of an eye!

Perfect.

3rd day of the lunar new year and boy, is there work to do! I think it's time i got into the spirit of things back at home and plan for the months ahead..Right now it seems to me that hall is so near yet so far away..i'm so glad for the neighbys i have, but I can't bring myself to join the committees and clubs this semester coz it just doesn't seem right! Which means, I probably have to stay in pgp nx sem. :'(

Ahh..i'm gonna enjoy the (great) company while it lasts, and meanwhile I hope my Magic Golden Cow i got from the temple on Chu Yi will bring me luck! :)

And Happy CNY to you all!!!

My very first Bizad Case Competition!!

haha good enough for me :)

Disillusioned.

Since when upon calling the next presentation team to get ready do profs say: "We might stop you anytime during your presentation if we find that your presentation is bad. Sometimes life is cruel and you will have to learn how to cope with it." And then during Q&A don't bother about that obvious emphasis of "IF THEY GET CHOSEN then say..etc."

WTF. 5 secs before my presentation. OUTSIDE the conference room. Just when we got ourselves all psyched up and ready to go. We hadn't even uttered a word nor batted an eyelid. So much for confidence in your Bizaders. As if this wasn't already my first shot at the game, it'd be nice to be shown a little respect for my hard work over the hols as well as given appreciation for actually signing up for the very thing you spammed our email boxes in desperation last year.

Man. Sometimes i don't wonder why my passion for Bizad diminished exponentially throughout the years. I want my old Bizad faith back! i used to love my faculty so...

Oh well, not to say my presentation didn't go well, it was decent enough for my first attempt - i didn't screw up my part! 'Cept that I just knew Q&A would kill us all with our lack of depth in some areas..but i guess we did handle it okay.

But it does make me sick in the stomach when i think about it..Usually after presentations I have that light, fluffy feeling (especially if i'd delivered my part well), this just left me in a pang of disgust. Urgh. I think the profs need to get exposed to some better educating skills - specifically, the art of positivity and encouragement instead of that negativity and 'discounting' students method they seem to derive sick pleasure from.

Hmph.

DisneyWorld and the New Year '09

haha yeah i know like i'm how lag.

AHHH 2009 already i'm writing this post like 15 days into the new year?! Man. where is my life! haha ok is because too much life alr no time to blog..Honestly! what's with all the projs and meetups and all..i actually signed myself up for the L'Oreal Brandstorm Case Competition and was doing my 13 page report plus presentation while travelling over Vegas and NYC! And the first selection presentation is like this Friday! Me and my bright idea..BUTBUTBUT.

I guess i did subconsciously play out (one of) my New Year's Resolutions already..i actually didn't plan for it, i mean resolutions and all, but come to think of it this case competition is a start to a brand new year for me - Be Brave, Be Bold, Be Creative, and most of all Do Something Worthwhile! I mean dammit, it's time i stood out and did something cool man. I look at my resume and all i see is lame Ben and Jerry's work experience. Time to move on! While the economy is down, might as well go plump up my resume with case competition experience and maybe a few workshops..

*sigh* When did i get all practical like this? i truly do NOT wanna grow up you know.

Which brings me back to the impractical, happy, magical times i had in DisneyWorld, Orlando. I SWEAR IT WAS THE BEST NEW YEAR'S EVE AND HOLIDAY OF MY AWESOMMEEST LIFE!

oh man..where to begin.

1st day: Epcot

My Fav Pic from Epcot - the land of the future.

Okay no i prefer this one - our Futuristic Portrait!!

haha like how chio/shuai right!

Epcot was all about space and touch-screen virtual arcades where we could play in, like The Singapore Science Centre. Oh and there was a huge section with buildings of Countries round the world, but not as exciting so y'all find in facebook better..

Of course there was WAYY more to this than what's written here, but i'll put the best of Epcot up:

Our Future!

This was taken while we were on one of the space rides leh! Super creative..we were actually going backwards in our rollercoaster down a long slope after a tour around 'outerspace' and we typing on the touch screen in our very own rollercoaster cabin!!
Day 2: Animal Kingdom

DinoLand, Mount Everest, and Plenty of real wild animals in the park! oh, and even...

Bug's Life!

haha :) Damn cool effects for their 3D shows.

Of course, not forgeting the usual parade found in each of the Disney Parks..

:)

And my fav pic here:

Was soo tempted to get that cute Minnie Mouse ears! but US$14 ex leh :(

3rd Day: Wet N' Wild + SHOPPING at Prime Outlet!!!

Bought this supercool half-metre long coke-filled bottle!! :)

The Naked Cowboy Grabbed My Butt on Xmas Eve '08 in New York City!!!

Haha. Long title huh.

We landed in NYC 21st Dec, right on the last day of the snow storm..first time i felt my skin freeze and crack just by walking out in the open. So, we were forced to wear our Longhorn beanies in the airport which made us look like this:

Haha..damn cock. But no choice la my ears kept freezing and unfreezing frm stepping in and out of buildings. We found a cheap hostel on Union Square, which was hardly more than a cabin..super claustrophobic plus shared toilet..felt like i was on a cheapo cruise ship..And we thought kr was bad. Well, at least i had good company. :)

Touring NYC was a little slow for the first 2 days..the night we landed we headed straight to Union Square, which was the closest place of interest to our 'White House Hotel' (that, by the way is the name of that crumbling dormitory we lodged in)..The streets were all icy and slippery and everything was so muddy..not much to do in Union Square except this Holiday Market thing which was an angmoh version of our Pasar Malam..Except that i wish it was like ours coz stuffed toys and antiques didn't fill our starving stomaches..what i would give to have a juicy fat taiwanese sausage then!
2nd Day in NYC was spent in Chinatown! I loved Chinatown in NYC!! Concluded that wherever you go, Chinatown is the cheapest and has the most abundant things to shop for - souvenirs, clothes, and in this case PERFUME!! We ended up buying 4 100ml bottles of branded perfume for $20 each on average (would have gotten more if not for luggage weight limit)..plus all the souvenirs for pple back home..

Just ONE of the crazily packed stores in Chinatown

Cheap Perfume Galore!

Alright, i'll move on to the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th days of our trip coz more exciting after slacking 2 days..

3rd Day at Times Square..

One of the most bustling and colorful places in NYC..i realize it was the venue where Hiro Nakamura in Heroes had his one Shot-to-Stardom 'Yatahhh!' cry scene!! haha..here's my imitation of it:

"Yatahhh!!"
Oh..and then guess who i met on the streets of New York! ...The Naked Cowboy!! He's apparently some mini-celebrity after prowling the streets in just his briefs and a guitar(even in the below 5Deg weather)..so being all touristy i had to take pics with him! Altho i think WL got a lil' angry after that.. LOL

Disclaimer: Obviously the poses were NOT initiated by me!

Ooh then we went to M&M's world and Hershey's huge buildings..M&M's rock la! But i think the M&M's world at Vegas was much larger and more fun though..

Haha i love M&M's world!

Alright enough pictures from the chocolate mansions..on X'mas Eve after taking countless of gorgeous pics on Times Square (like the one below), we decided to spend the rest of the evening at Brooklyn Bridge to kill time before the clock struck 12.

Here's a photo of a plague of the famous Brooklyn Bridge found on the grand structure itself..I won't put pics up here coz they don't do justice to the scenery at all..evening shots suck with my camera. But i will tell you it was gorgeous with the NY corporate buildings and all as backshot. Took us ages to climb up the bridge coz it was so icy and slippery..and we only found out that the entire bridge lights up at 5.40pm or so, which was 5 mins after we walked down the bridge to the subway and turned back to see the splendid view. -_- wasted.

So, a coupla of hours before X'mas, we went back to Times Square where we thought the countdown would be worth it, and about 10 minutes before the clock struck 12 we decided to humor one of the sketch artists on the sidewalks and did this:

hahaha my first cartoon sketch with WL! quite funny..although abit exaggerated..i'll be putting it up on the wall in hall soon! LOL funny times..here's the end result and the artist! All the artists were frm China man..and they earn alot la.. but not bad all he used was one piece of charcoal..

Well, as for the X'mas countdown..it was lame. Everyone just stood on Times Square staring at a teeny clock on one of the billboards..and suddenly someone said YAY!! -__-'' I guess X'mas is more of a family affair in NYC than a public one.
Okay let's skip to the more fun parts of NYC..4th day we went on a short cruise to see the Statue of Liberty!! Now i can say i've seen it with my own eyes..haha Swaku. But really, i feel that the magic of Mei Guo fades away when u're actually there..(or when somebody spits in front of you when you're heading in their direction) or maybe i'm just a cynic.

Near the ferry terminal there were more baskers..and one called WL out to participate in his gymnastic stunt/performance.

Winter and snow does make X'mas seem more romantic and well, X'massy! We went to Central Park after that which was gorgeous!

The main attraction of Central Park was the ice-skating in the middle of the park..but it was SOO packed! We didn't bother queueing la..it was freezing anyway..and like about 15mins after we arrived there was an announcement for all skaters to leave the rink coz the ice was gonna crack or sth. !!! So we went back to roaming the park and taking great pics..and...throwing ice onto the semi-frozen lake to see who can break the ice! haha..cheap thrill. I know la look super idiotic, but at least we weren't the only ones doing it!! LOL.

Oh yeah of course I have to talk about the great EATS in New York! Over the few days we went to this place called Dallas BBQ twice coz the food was GREATTT!! Not to mention cheap(er) than other places on Times Square. Here's some salivating pics:

Their famous hugeass Texas Appletini!! (With extra testube shotful of alcohol)

WL's roasted half chicken

My half rack of BBQ ribs + steak + shrimps + Fries!!!

Freakin' HUGE honey bbq wings - eat until damn high i tell u!

Double Cheeseburger with fried onion and fries..(it is as big as it looks!)

Yeah yeah, tell me about calories blah blah..anytime man anytime..those meals were WORTH it! :)

Okay it's time to end of this super long post with the highlight of my visit in New York.. The Museum of Sex!
Lol bet yall wanna know about this! It was really an eye-opener i must say. haha..blew my socks away, literally. I never saw so much porn in my life..all for $15! 3 levels of 'educational porn':
Level 1: Animal Porn

Hurhur. I guess the pics speak for themselves..

Level 2: Video Porn...was too explicit; I wouldn't risk blinding yall with pics (not like we took any). Porn videos from celebs to cartoons - yes, they had sexual cartoons e.g Anime, Popeye-style animations - from the beginning of the invention of the telly. Did I mention I never watched so much porn in my life?!

Level 3: Sex toys and mannequins

LOL. okay shan't 'dirty' my blog anymore la..i think i've seen enough about sex on my 21st year to last me a lifetime.

Yupyup! Alright finally i can conclude this post..shall end off with my favourite pic of New York City:

I <3 NY!!! :)
