Surfers Paradise

Wish i was back there again! As usual after holidays i was sucked back into a vortex of crazy meetings and stacks of work, so its always a struggle between blogging or watching another happy episode of HIMYM - so do pardon the hiatus.

But yes, it was a fabulously sun-shiny holiday with plenty of fries and (new-found pop soda) Lift lemonade to top it off. Every day was packed to the brim as per our standard 'seize the (holi)day' itinerary!

Day 1&2 at Tangalooma Beach

Perfectly clear waters and pearly sand. But the most amazing thing of all was the evening schedule of wild dolphin feeding at the beach near the jetty. Totally regretted not taking along the camera as we thought we'd both be waist-deep in the sea feeding the dolphins. Turned out they swam only 1-2m from the shore and the furtherest we needed to go was knee-deep!

Now, doesn't this look just like the googled picture in my previous post? :)

Only knee-deep and he snatched the fish right outta our hands! I never knew dolphins were this huge until now. Actually a bit scary..look like shark!

Day 3 - Paradise Country Farm & Surfers Paradise Beach

Finally got to hug a koala!! Not as furry as i'd imagine, and pretty heavy! But still cute.

Look! We look like a family of grey marsupials.

And Surfers Paradise beach - well, lets just say there ain't no better name than that! I was totally blown away as soon as we stepped into the hotel and checked out the view at the balcony. Sure, the seafront view was beautiful, but then i saw WHALES jumping out of the sea. At first i thought i was hallucinating but it happened several times i almost felt like i was watching Free Willy again.

Only managed to catch a shot of the whale blowing a spray of water after flopping in and out of the sea..too awestruck to grab the cam in time. Only after then I realized it was whale-watching season - they had banners on the streets to advertise whale-watching cruises.

A few things we learnt about Surfers Paradise:

1) Beachfront property like this costs less than AUD$500k. (majorly jealous)

2) But a 1.5l mineral water + 600ml (deliciously lemony) Lift soda (or any other soda) costs AUD$8.90. *Outrageous*

3) You are only allowed to swim between the red & yellow flags so the lifeguards can keep their eye on you. Coz it's just too easy to get sucked under the raging waves even just 10m from the shore. (..or get eaten by sharks)

Looks just like a scene outta Baywatch

4) Aussie peeps are literally jiak kan dang - we had fries for almost every meal!

The Hard Rock Cafe cheeseburgers rock, btw.

Day 4: Warner Bros Movie World & Casino
Well, compared to our USA trips (think Six Flags, Skitterbarn & Disney World), the Gold Coast themeparks were pretty blah i guess. But still sufficient to offer a wee bit of adrenaline rush. The best ride was undoubtly SUPERMAN, but the coolest dude in costume that day was definitely BATMAN and his Batmobile.

Superman Fast!!

Hot wheels

But the most amusing video of the trip goes to Bugs/Daffy/Tweety/Sylvester - for SHUFFLIN' the daylights outta everyone!!

haha loves it!! *Every day i'm shufflin'!* Warner Bros' version wins hands down!! Hokay i'm a lil' bushed already..way past time for bed *cough-old-cough* and bloody blogspot didnt' help by making me rewrite this post 3 times coz it apparently didn't save half the post when I published earlier. *grimace*

So, anyways, there isn't much else of the rest of the trip that isn't gonna be illustrated on FB (heh heh shortcut to capture memories)..we conquered Dream World and Wet n' Wild too. Not to mention getting a really rosy tan each.

Well, time to start looking forward methinks! Feb & Mar 2012 look pretty ungifted with public holidays..perfect for the next getaway! :) hmm..where to next??
